Dietitian’s Confessions: Grocery Shoppers Anonymous
It’s happened too many times to count. I run into the grocery store with the intent of purchasing one or two needed ingredients, not even grabbing a shopping basket. By the time I make my way from point A to point Z, I manage to arrive at checkout precariously balancing a stack of items between my hands, arms and upper body.
Last Saturday after a weight training session, Scarlet and I headed to Fry’s Marketplace for rice and plain Greek yogurt that I needed for recipe testing. After passing just two aisles I thought, “Well, we are here already, we may as well shop.” Scarlet had already nestled into her favorite car cart (yes, those obnoxiously large shopping carts I thought I would never push in a million years).
Here is a look at everything else I purchased.

Always happy when the cherries are on SALE! If I’m lucky, I can get them at $2.99 to $3.99 per lb., otherwise it’s usually closer to $4.99 or $5.99. Why do those pits have to be so heavy! 😉 I freeze mine as well so that I don’t ravage them all in one sitting!
Rebecca,
Do you freeze cherries with or without the pits? That’s a good idea to freeze them to extend their season a little longer.
Michelle
I freeze them with the pits. They thaw pretty readily once taken out of the freezer, as well. I do the same thing with blueberries.
