What to Eat with Sabra Hummus: The #UnofficialMeal
This post is sponsored by my friends at Sabra, to help spread the good word about hummus. This post was written 100% by me.
After I pick up the girls from school, we head home and are all hungry, ready for a substantial snack. And I know I need to act quickly to get a delicious and nutritious snack on the kitchen counter before my daughters dig up a package of soda crackers (Why are kids so obsessed with those, anyway?)
One pre-dinner snack I know that everyone in my family loves is hummus. Which is great because it’s made from chickpeas—a type of legume. And two spoonfuls of hummus add up to the recommended 1 1/2 cups of legumes per week. How easy is that? That’s why I feel good serving my family hummus every night as our unofficial meal before dinner. And Sabra hummus is my family’s favorite. While Sabra tastes amazing straight from the container (our favorite Sabra hummus flavors that I buy every week are Roasted Pine Nut, Lemon Twist and Roasted Garlic), it’s also fun to mix things up by adding your own flavors.
What to eat with hummus
One flavor profile that I’m obsessed with is avocados and chunky salsa, and putting it on top of hummus is no exception. The hummus adds a savory, earthy taste, avocado adds creamy good fats, and salsa adds a pop of acidity with vitamin C, too. Pair with red bell pepper strips, cucumbers, whole-grain tortilla chips or crackers, and you have yourself a fresh little mini meal. Okay, my 2-year-old’s hummus vesicle of choice is a spoon, with the occasional dipping with crackers. But you get the idea. There is something for everyone. And when my husband arrives home from work, he noshes on hummus and celery sticks, while I make dinner as we catch up and chit chat.
Next time you’re super hungry before dinner, reach for some Sabra hummus. The unofficial meal.

I love the lemon twist flavor and enjoy stirring into my salad as dressing.
Hi Crystal, Great to hear from you! Thanks for sharing! That sounds like such a good idea that I have not yet tried! What else do you put in your salad with the Lemon Twist?

Lately I’ve been loving hummus as a spread on sandwiches and put a few scoops on my salad to replace salad dressing!
Thanks, Kelly. Yum! I’m obsessed with hummus in my wraps! Scoops of hummus with salad is so good.

I’m curious to know what would be great but gluten free with the jalapeño sabra. I am hosting an event that has a few people that have gone gluten free attending i know regular crackers or anything with grains had gluten in them so what kind of carrier would you recommend for my event in 1 week and 4 days
Hi James,
There are certain brands of crackers that are GF and delish, like Mary’s Gone Crackers and Crunchmaster are my favorites. You could also do tortilla chips, as many are gluten free. Red bell pepper strips would also balance out the snack.
Good luck!

I make mini pizza by using small pita rounds. I use the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus by Sabra. Then I can add whatever I have, usually chopped olives, onions, tomatoes. Who needs supper now! Not me, I’m totally pleased with healthy pizzas!😋😋
Yum! That is a great idea. What more do you need?! Thanks for sharing. Michelle
