Nutritionist On The Road Again at BlogHer
As I write this I sit in my hotel room overlooking the marina in San Diego. Where exactly? I have no idea. I’m attending BlogHer Conference 2011 on behalf of a client and fortunately they made all of my travel arrangements. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.
Things have been a little crazier than usual today, since I had to settle my home, pay the babysitter, and issue checklists and directions to my husband before I left town.
A 60 second breakfast just wasn’t going to cut it this morning. I’m embarrassed to say that on Tuesday because of a scheduled conference call I jogged outside in 102 degree weather instead of at the gym. Today I’m still paying the price with a somewhat depleted body and wanted a breakfast with real substance, like an egg with flaked sea salt, a waffle topped with walnuts and syrup, and cherries.
After an interview with a journalist from Weight Watchers, I grabbed a container of Greek yogurt with sliced almonds sprinked on top.
Chinese looked appealing for my airport lunch. I ordered the chicken salad from Flo’s, along with two crab puffs. The ginger vinaigrette on the salad was fabulous, but there was twice as much chicken as I needed or wanted, and shredded carrots were the only other ingredient. The high quality greens started this salad out with so much potential, but I only ate half of it. Oh well.
Writing about lunch reminds me how hungry I am right now. Before I dash off for dinner, I would like to announce the winner of the California Raisins gift basket.
Lindsay! We’re still waiting to hear back from you, so please get in touch.
Here is her comment:
“Whenever my mom and I bake pumpkin muffins, we always make sure to include raisins! I love the way pumpkin and raisins taste together! Yum!”
I could go for some of those muffins slathered in butter right now. And I also had fun reading the other ideas. Such a creative bunch of respondents contributed many more suggestions I’m looking forward to trying. Especially the raisins dancing in soda water. Brilliant!
Tune in tomorrow for my latest shopping haul.

Hi Lindsay,
Thank you for getting in touch and for the kind words. Congratulations on winning the California Raisins gift basket! And you have my sympathies for not having your laptop for an entire week. That happened to me last summer. Whew! Glad that’s over. San Diego has been fabulous. Your college major sounds exciting. I bet you have a fun ride ahead of you. Thanks for participating and sending your address. We’ll get the gift basket out to you soon. Feel free to send us a photo of you enjoying the goodies.
Michelle
